PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED BY NGO CREDI

 Project funded by UNOPS through UNDP: Micro Finance Initiative - Land and Biodiversity conservation for improvement of revenues using bamboo, agro-forestry fodder shrubs and livestock farming strategy at Nyabarongo River in Rulindo district. Year implemented 2008.

 Project funded by USADF through Rwanda Women Network: In calf Friesian heifer project for soil conservation and increased land productivity and income generation of women farmers of Kiziguro Sector, Gatsibo District, in 2008.

 Project funded by World Bank–RSSP/MINAGRI: Project for hillside erosion control for the marshland of Kanyonyomba, in Gatsibo District in 2005.

 Project funded by WFP: Land terracing of 15 hectares in Cyinzuzi Sector, through food for education strengthen food security for children to be able to stay at school and supply of food aid-cereals, vegetable oil and pulses (59.01 MT) in Rulindo District, in 2009.

 Project funded by World Bank: MAP Project: HIV/AIDS Prevention among prostitutes
(sex workers) in Gasabo District in 2004, through creation of cooperatives and building their capacity in management of their cooperatives and training them in crafts making, hair dressing and tailoring skills development.

 Project funded by World Bank – ‘Civil Society Fund’ in 2008 ; Capacity Building and Training on Off Farm Income Generating Activities (IGAs) related to protection and promotion of women’s and children’s rights in regard to prevention of Gender Based Violence (GBV), Child Protection, Education, Health, Unity and Reconciliation. This project was implemented in Rulindo District Cyinzuzi Sector and Rusizi District in Bweyeye Sector. As well carried out a safe schools – child protection project in some primary schools in the district in which children were sensitized on child abuse and how to guard against it and be able to stay at school. Teachers as well as the school management committees were also trained in child protection as well as strengthen their roles in the formation of the pupils for achievement of effective literacy and overall quality education.

 In partnership with ADRA Rwanda, a Safe Schools project was implemented in some primary schools whereby children were sensitized on child abuse and how to avoid it. The teachers and school authorities were reminded of their primary role in formation of the children for effective learning. Relatedly in the HIV prevention project, prevention clubs have been formed through which school gardens have been established to improve the nutritional status of the pupils at school along which was a schools feeding program in which milk was distributed to the pupils.

 Project funded by Global Fund through MINISANTE: R7/HIV/AIDS. Implemented in Kayonza and Rusizi Districts in 2010. Prevention measures through BCC, Family Planning, Male Circumcision, Door to Door campaigns. Addressing the socio-economic impact of HIV/AIDS- creation, capacity building and support of 12 cooperatives HIV/AIDS beneficiaries to IGAs related to dairy farming in which 36 dairy cows were distributed to 240 beneficiaries and other nutritional improvements projects.

 Project funded by Global Fund through MINISANTE: SSF/HIV/AIDS project implemented in Kayonza, Gatsibo and Rusizi districts from 2011-2015. Prevention measures through BCC, Family Planning, and Male Circumcision door to door campaigns. Addressing the socio-economic impact of HIV/AIDS by creating and building the capacity including support to 70 cooperatives of 1400 HIV/AIDS beneficiaries to start IGAs related to dairy farming in which 210 dairy cows were distributed to 1,400 beneficiaries.

 Project funded by Global Fund through MINISANTE -SSF/ HIV/TB project implemented in Eastern Province July 2013 - June 2015- districts of Bugesera, Rwamagana, Kirehe, Ngoma, Kayonza, Gatsibo and Nyagatare. Project objective is to scale up detection of TB infection and facilitating CHWs to follow up TB suspects being motivated to do their work with performance based fund (PBF). This fund has been invested in various income generating activities by 110 CHWs cooperatives, in activities grouped in the categories of - Arable Farming (bananas, pineapples, tomatoes, cassava, beans, groundnuts, maize and sorghum growing, – Agro forestry ( coffee and eucalyptus trees growing), Animal husbandry (pig, cattle, poultry, goats rearing and apiculture- beekeeping., General Trading (building houses for rental hire, operating motorcycles and boats as a means of transport, running hardware and grocery shops and water reservoir project. CREDI staff builds the capacity of these cooperatives to develop business plans invested in viable and sustainable projects as well as exacting that cooperatives manage sustainably their cooperative groups and maturity to obtaining legal status (Rwanda Cooperative Agency).

 Training of 120 lead farmer cooperative members in crop intensification and sustainable agricultural practices- growing of rice, maize, vegetables, beans and cassava in Nyagatare, Kayonza, Rwamagana, Ngoma and Bugesera districts, 2010-2012. The funds for activities implementation were from RSSP/MINAGRI.

 Nutrition Project:- Training of 30 Community Health Workers on Nutrition program in Gatsibo District -Rwimbogo Sector, Rwamagana District-Musha Sector, 2014. The fund for the activities was from RSSP/MINAGRI. Training of 1400 people affected and infected by HIV/AIDS on kitchen garden was carried out in Kayonza, Rusizi and Gatsibo Districts. The fund for the activities was from Global Fund.

Group of Community health workers were in training in Rwimbogo Sector. 2014

 Civil Society Strengthening Project (CSSP) in partnership with IREX in which capacity was built for CREDI staff through training, institution building grant for office equipment and for the coalition advocacy volunteer policy development project, year 2012.

 Rural Women Empowerment Project in Gatsibo, Rwamagana, Rulindo districts. Forty (40) donkeys have been supplied to women to ease the labor borne by them and children in solving domestic tasks related to fetching of water, land cultivation, carrying fertilizers and harvests etc with funding from SURF RWANDA. Other projects funded by SURF RWANDA include the energy conservation project in Kayonza district in the year 2013.
